Before & after 3/5 Drop

Just need to get new tires and get my wheels blasted/painted buy beauty rings and center caps and I'll be pretty happy. (notice I didn't say done lol). Beauty rings are sure hard to find for sale which is weird because they came out on everything. Rides better than before. Especially because of the rear.

Cut the springs up front and ordered the ECE 5 " drop kit. Very nice materials from ECE.

yeah when this truck was restored they used factory height suspension and boy was it tall. Springs were only a few years old but I didn't feel bad about taking em out lol.

Looks good man.

As for the beauty rings. It's hard to find used ones because most of them are usually beat all up. Some guys have bought some off e-bay, and liked them. Other than that just keep your eye out.

Looks good. Did you get any before and after measurements?
How much front coil was cut? Pics? Just curios.
I can imagine it rides 100% better.

I actually forgot to measure before and after to see what the true drop was. I know it was drastic though that thing was high up there.

On the front I cut 1 full coil off. Actually I probably cut about 3/4" more than 1 full coil.

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

Yea the rear looks like a 7-8in drop...It definitely sits righteous now.
Did you relocate the rear shocks?

I'm running the 1.5in trim rings from the late 80's trucks. I like em. Shows the rim with just the right amount of flash.

Yes sir I relocated the shocks and track bar. From just eyeballing it I think my shocks would have been near horizontal if I wouldn't have.

ECE provided nice quality products.

The guy that I traded for my wheels have me 1 trim ring and it is 2.5 inches wide and I really am looking for a set like it. It sets flush with the outside lip making the wheel look deeper. But I believe I am just going to get whatever I can come across.

Yard sales are a good idea and tomorrow is saturday. I'm gonna go in the morning.

70K52WD I like you blazer. Just got done browsing your build.

I definitly agree, the truck looks great! What did you do with the passenger mirror? Did it only have one? I see the driver one is never there. Just wondering because I can't see the holes either. Please tell me I'm not getting THAT old!!!!

haha good catch... When I bought it it had both mirrors. I replaced the door skins due to rust and loads of bondo on the bottoms. Repainted new door skins, front fenders, grille, and under hood due to scratches/flaking paint/poor prep work by previous owner. I just had to have things done right. The new door skins came with no holes so I just left the mirrors off.

I am not sure of the numbers right now but I want all 4 to be the same height of the back ones in the new pictures. I think I will need the front ones to be not as wide though as it seems the front sets out a little more than the back.

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

The track is wider up front. If your going to run rallys, you need to get some of the rare 7in for the front, they will correct the track. Check out this link if you have not already seen it. BTW thanks...

haha yeah right dude I can't even find beauty rings LOL. Yeah I saw that thread and I'm glad I did because I wouldn't have noticed the front sticks out more and probably would have gotten all tires of the same size.

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

If I recall, Lolife99 may have a couple for sale. You may want to contact him if you are interested. They do look sweet on these trucks.

I'm sure you may have seen these trucks on the forum, with these wheels. If not, here is "Blank Slate" http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=353633

And "Nolife" http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=338655

No doubt. I got one 15x7 from lolife. I found 1 15x7 locally. I don't know if that will only make a difference if you are gonna use drop spindles(which on a earlier drum brake front-end will push the track width back in).
