95 TBI 4.3 to vortec swap
About 4 months ago I picked up a 95 S10 with part of a 4.3 in it. The vin shows it was a tpi truck. The truck was repoed evidently while the PO was doing some work on it. Since the body is in exceptional shape I kept it and figured I would find an other engine later. And last week I stumbled into a 92 Blazer with a 4.3 vortec in it.
What will it take to swap the vorte engine into the little s10. I figure it will need a vortec computer. I know the blocks will swap over but the electronics have me bit cornffuzzled.

Re: 95 TBI 4.3 to vortec swap
wiring harness, intake manifold, intake ducting/ air box for a '95 CPI, fuel pump, fuel lines throttle and kickdown cables. The distributors didn't change until sometime during the '95 model year, so that will be fine. I think the wiring harness should probably come from a '95 too. I think if you had a parts truck of the same year it would make the swap a lot easier and cheaper. How much of the engine did you get? You could put the TBI on the CPI block. If you would rather stay TBI, I can help you out with parts.

Unfortunate3ly I didn't get the tbi intake with the truck., It would have made things a lot easier I had I know. All that is in the truck now is the block that appears to be full of water and badly rusted. Guess I will have to troll Pull a part for a tbi or go ahead and find a v8 for it.

Re: 95 TBI 4.3 to vortec swap
I have a complete TBI engine I just pulled from a '95. The long block is going to be used in a CPI truck, so if you need the intake "assembly" we could work a deal. If you need the computer or any wiring I have that too.

Re: 95 TBI 4.3 to vortec swap
If possible, I'd put the whole drivetrain from the 92 Blazer into that 95... The CPI has more power and 92 is the 'golden' year - the only year you could get a CPI with a non-computer controlled auto. GM wiring harness's tend to have a lot of similarities, and often you can plug and play with a few minor lengthening/splicing. OR you could get a computer for a 95 CPI. IMO, I'd check all that out.
