Re: truck cutting out?

What type of fuel pump are you running, electric or mechanical? Have you tested your fuel PSI?

Re: truck cutting out?

If you mean kind of sputtering and not shutting off completely, I had something similar on my old 440 mopar. At about 70-75 mph it would sputter and pop. Lifted the hood and ran the rpms up in the dark and there was quite a light show. The spark was jumping thru the plug wires to the engine. Re-routed the wires and it was ok.

Re: truck cutting out?

Yea I would get a fuel pressure gauge and test that first. Could also need different size jets. What is your idle mixture screws set at? I would put new plugs in it, drive it while its cutting out, find a place to shut it off while its running and check the plugs. Check back and tell us what your plugs look like, and that would help alot on whats going on. You cant really test the plugs after its been idling, you need to turn the key off while your driving it. Do you have a timing light, that could also have something to do with it? fuel filter cloged? Sorry so long of a post but theres a few things that could be wrong.

Re: truck cutting out?

You might also check for colapsing rubber fuel lines. I just found that the one from the tank to the fuel pump on mine is.

I just put a new one on a couple of weeks ago, but the normal rubber hose now days is crap so I am going with the heavier duty type I use on the power steering suction.
