body work.
Ive never done body work and wanted to start on my 87 its got surface rust mostly so how and what would i use to fix this and any tips for a beginner? Thanks

Start on one part of the truck. Pick a fender or a door and get to sanding on it. You don't have to take it to bare metal. I like to find the highs and lows and if I can get to them I'll hammer them out but if not a nice layer of bondo will work too. I like the stuff 3m has out, it's called sand blaster. Paint and bondo don't stick to the sandpaper so you can go a long ways with your paper. I just started using tape around areas that I need to bondo. I think it helps. You don't have extra bondo to sand.
