What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

There may not be many golfers in this group, including me. Since the Masters is the talk of the town right now, I thought I would dedicate this edition to those guys that like to whack a ball with a stick just to chase it down and do it again.

Bob is out of town, so lets get this going for him. Spring has sprung in this part of the country and the early car shows are already happening. Instead of taking a cruise to the local car show, I worked in my yard, and finished a bathroom remodel.

Maybe next weekend I will get to take the 77 out. Until then......What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

Did some "spring cleaning" around the house, cleaned up things a bit behind the garage. Got some work done on the truck too. Changed steering wheel, changed rear diff fluid, fixed the driver side window, finally got the fuel gauge and dual tank setup working (and found a fuel leak and defective sender on the left side), and did a little more cleanup here and there. Oh, and replaced the single crappy old battery with dual 75 month Interstates... the dual batteries rock!

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

Tore apart the Impala donor car for the 67 Biscayne we are building. We now have a rolling chassis to get ready for the Biscayne body to drop on to. Then I delt with my "nutso" family and the problems they bring upon the world. But I did get to see a sister of mine from OR because of the other sister's problems...picked her up at 10pm Saturday and dropped her at the airport at 11am Sunday. But at least we saw each other for a little while.

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

Got some used glass for the passenger side door, and put them both in. Finally got my truck back on the road again!

5.5 hours to change 2 piece of glass. Vent window went pretty easy. Apparently the bottom tracks on 70's and 80's windows are different, so I had to swap that over which was quite an experience.

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

I gave my S-10 some more love this weekend, finished detailing under the hood, built a fuel line, installed the Corvette radiator, 16" fan, and a 180-190 temperature switch. I let it idle for 35 minutes, never went over 190 degrees.

Cut grass, bought a new BBQ grill, took the Heap to a cruise-in Saturday night.

Attention! Super Chevy is this coming weekend in Dinwiddie Virginia!

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

I finally got her road worthy!! I had some cooling issues that I cured, should have started with the thermostat but I went ahead and replaced the mater pumpr 1st, then found a shroud for it in the junkyard and finally replaced the t-stat after all that only to find out that was the problem the whole time. Oh well, it works now and I only spent about $40 total on it so I am not complaining!!!

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

Spent Saturday at Houston Raceway Park watching the Orielly's Spring Nationals, had not been to the drag races in years and had a blast despite a morning long rain storm. Sunday did a bunch of yard work I had been putting off for weeks, after yard work sat and relaxed watching Phil win the Masters.

Since the Masters happens about 15mins from my house, I stayed home and away from all that mess. Got a few things straightened out with the serpentine conversion and floated around the pond fishing.

I grilled all weekend long. I picked up another 12 bolt on saturday and took the project out for a cruise around town.

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

I got a little done on the truck. The wheels and tires are on, fuel lines secure, and I have a plan for the filler neck. I sold my axles and got them delivered, I was up and on the road at 5:45 am to haul them half way to the buyer (nice, arent I?). Then UFC fights sat night. Sunday was a no-go for the truck. I carpeted a room in the basement that is gonna be a play room for the kids, and started painting the the girls new bedroom. We are having a boy in august (finally), so I have 3 rooms I have to rearrange to make it all work.

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

I got the rotors and drums turned on Friday then spent time replacing the bearings, calipers, pad, hoses, wheel cylinders, shoes, brake lines and flushing the fluid. I also painted part of the headlight bezel and put in some Silverstars. I had forgotten how much I hated working on drum brakes. It's been 20 years since I put a set on. I was also surprised to find no slot in the backing plate to adjust the shoes. The backing plate is solid without any kind of 'punch out'. Is there a trick to adjusting the shoes other than driving around backwards for a while?

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

Congrats, TSWORE!
I had a parts bonanza for my truck this week. I had ordered my 5/7 drop and some weatherstripping, and it all showed up this week. I pulled both doors apart, changed out the weatherstripping, and cleaned, lubed, and adjusted everything. Now both sides work like new, and no more wind leaks. I played with them for a few evenings last week, and finished up last night. Now I am ready to start the drop!

Re: What did you get done? 04/11 Masters Edition

Started the 30x56 pole barn Wednesday, have the roof on and 2 sides done. Rebuilt the starter on my tractor. Pulled of the leaking fuel line on the 87 diesel, gotta bend up a new one (one that does NOT get fastened under the motor mount. Not GM's best moment).

cleaned out my garage, pulled out the boat, bought a new tire for the one that went bad, put 20 dollars of gas in the boat.

Then forgot I needed a parks sticker to take it fishing...

Replaced my blower motor, changed my oil pressure switch (yay! My gauge works now, instead of being pegged at 60+), replaced the thermostat (previous one was either stuck open, or super low temp, because gauge never moved past 100 or so). Also got the oil changed.

Separated the 350 engine from tranny for new owner, pulled old fuel tank down as well as old fuel lines(pain), pressure washed engine bay and frame. Started purging all my old parts that won't be needed anymore.

Picked up a pair of 15x8 6-lug steel wheels,... and these 64-66(?) hubcaps.
They are now on the parts boards for sale.

Yard work, cleaned out the garage. Changed oil and all fluids in the wife's and my daily. Wet sanded my horrible brush paint job on my dropmember and parts, smooth. Spayed it with some summit chassis paint, great stuff by the way. Spray, don't brush if you can... Hit up an auto swap meet extremely early Sunday morning, found zip.
