Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

I'm not online much, but I've read a lot on here that you guys are happy with ECE's kits so I decided to give it a go.
Hopefully I'll have some pics before too long.
Thanks for all the helpful info that you guys provide on this forum.

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

Here's a before pic. It's already lowered two and a half inches, but I want to go a bit lower. It's got the stock rallys on there and I think that I'm going to keep them and put on some baby moons. I'm not positive on what I'm going to do for tire size yet. I'll make sure to post some pics after it's done.

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

Can someon post pics of a lwb on rallys....(side shots) thanks! And beautiful blue 2 tone!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive got a chunk of $ headed my way, how much weight will I be able to haul without a cnotch? How hard is it to install a c notch my trucks a truck but love the low stance on SWB but no sure if I like it on LWB, thinking more of a 2\4 drop would be more practical....

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

While I'm waiting for my ECE 4/6 kit to arrive, I went and got my new tires/wheels. Hopefully the suspension parts will get here soon so I can eliminate some of the wheel well gap. I know that a lot of the guys on this forum prefer the full wheel well look with either larger tires or larger wheels and I think that looks awesome, but I'm a also big fan of the 60's and 70's SoCal lowrider look which is what I've got in mind for this one.
Anyway, here's an updated pic. Hopefully I'll have another one with the new ride height soon.

*Edit*

Also put on a new driver's side hood hinge to fix the gap shown in the pic above. That gap is history.

Looks great nice truck......

I personally prefer the previous wheels but either will look great with the drop. I rdered my 4.5/6 ECE drop on thursday and it was at my house (So Cal) on friday.

I will loan you mine as I won't have a chance to install it for a while...lol

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

Drop kit arrived today, much to the chagrin of the UPS driver who had to haul all four heavy-ass boxes up the stairs to my work. Hopefully I'll be able to get going on the install within the next couple of weeks. STOKED!

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

So I've hit a bit of a snag and I'm hoping someone can help convince me that I'm not crazy.

Installing this stuff is a little bit out of my realm of knowledge so I was going to have an acquaintance do it for me at his shop. When he got under the truck, he swears that I already have the same exact set-up (same spindles, coils, shocks in front and lowered leaf springs and shackles in the rear) as what came in the boxes from ECE. Problem is, the previous owner said that all he did to the front end was put in 2 1/2'' drop spindles in the front and shackles in the rear. Looking at my truck, I don't think there is any way that it's been lowered 4'' already in the front and 6'' in the rear.
I'm fairly new to these trucks still so maybe I'm delusional, but how much does my truck appear to be lowered to you guys?

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

IMO... 2/4 more than likely.

Check out my build thread in my signature to catch the measurements of my truck following the install of my 4.5/6" drop kit.

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

A 4/6 drop will be close to level, just a slight rake to it. It looks like your truck might be lowered 4/4 or 3/4. Sagging stock springs will probably have an inch to two inches of "drop" to them so your new coils may not add much drop but you should get another couple inches out of the rear.

Re: Just ordered an ECE 4/6 drop kit...

Looks like 2.5/4 to me, so the previous owner may have used drop spindles for the front already.I have a 2.5/4 on my 71 and looks close to what you have. I think I have a picture somewhere when I still had my 15" ralley's on, if you want a comparison.

Yeah, I'd like to see that if you don't mind.

I've been looking at a lot of pictures of trucks that are stock height, 2/4'' and 4/6'' and I'm pretty sure that mine is currently 2/4'' which is why I'm confused about what the guy at the shop told me.

Those are good points.

How many coils are on the stock springs?

Here's a picture of a 2.5/4 for comparison.Tires were 255/60/15 all the way around. I don't have a side on shot.

KMACD71:

To me, that looks like the stance that my truck has now besides the different tire size.
Thanks for posting that. I guess I'll just go ahead with the kit I've got and we'll see how it ends up.
