Re: Tire problem with coys

I went with 295-45-20 as I wanted a tire with a nice side wall, zero rubbing on a 20x10 coy wheel with a 5.5 BS....

Re: Tire problem with coys

The tire width will vary depending on things like rim width and even brand of tire. What do you have, and will you stay with the same brand of tire?

Re: Tire problem with coys

According to the TOYO website, the 285/50-R20 is 11.6 inches wide, and the 295/40-R20 is 11.7 inches wide.

The two sizes they recommend for a 10" rim are 275/40R20 and 275/45R20, both 10.8". Figure both of these will get you about 1/2" more clearance than what you currently have.

Re: Tire problem with coys

You know that the tires on the wheelsa you have rub, so you need something smaller. What someone else has is immaterial.

Re: Tire problem with coys

Does it rub on one side, lowered with original track bar?

You might want to check if the axle is centered and may have to invest in an adjustable track bar.

If you have leaf springs, disregard.

Re: Tire problem with coys

I just go back from a trip to the states. I went through Denver and picked up a set of coys. 20x10's for the rear with 5.5 BS. They recommended a 295/45R20 and after mounting the rim on the rear of my leaf sprung GMC and taking some measurements, it looks like that will work no problem. My truck has been lowered about 6 inches in the rear with a flip kit if that makes any difference at all.

Re: Tire problem with coys

Do both rear tires rub?
Are you sure your truck has the stock rear end?

Re: Tire problem with coys

These are the tires i ordered for the rear (295/45):

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

They have an overall section width of 11.6 inches which means they will stick out about 0.8 inches from the mounting surface (where the bead sits) on a 10 inch rim. Atleast thats how they explained it to me.

Here's a link to your size (285/50) in the same type tire as above:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Says there that yours have a section width of 11.5 inches. So if yours rub, then the size i've ordered wont fit your truck either.

I've got the same questions as Zoomin.

Re: Tire problem with coys

Just threw on the 20x10 with a 5.5 BS and 295/40 tires with no issues. Have 5" drop as well.

the 285 is the width in millimeters, 25.4 mm in a inch. If you rub with 285's, 295's won't be any better.

The next number, i.e. 45, 50, etc is the side wall height as a percentage of the width.

side wall = 295 x 45% (or 0.45)

Just some usless info in my head that may help you size your tires
