What would you guys do?

So I have a truck dilemma:

I had dumped a ton of money into a 70 SWB 2wd that was super clean from the getgo and all it needed was paint. Then one day whild driving home the LT1 I swapped in blew up. I needed money to get my house and there was no way I was going to be able to put a motor in it so I sold the truck for $5500.

I have kicked myself since the day I sold it. In the meanwhile I have picked up a couple other trucks that have come and gone, most recent is an 85 SWB 2WD that I really like. Here is what it has.

350/700r
CPP drop spindles
Ebach springs
Flip kit
10 bolt open
crap wheels
worn interior
unknown mile motor that runs great

Well low and behold I see the 70 today in front of a shop for sale, identical to how it was when I sold it except now it has a new crate motor and a 700r. Its gone 10k miles since I sold it. He will take no less then $7300 for it. It stilll needs paint but the body is just as good as the day it left.

Here is what the 70 has.

CPP 6lug discs and drop spindles
CPP rear springs and adjustable track bar
Corbins dash with 6 autometer gauges
newer carpet
new seat
newer weather stripping
custom 17" billet wheels
12 bolt with auburn locker
350/700r
newer glass
newer radiator
newer booster and master
newer tank
newer led lights
newer floors, cab corners and rockers.
ect.

So here is the dilemma, I can only have one truck. Do I pass on the 70, put the money I would spend on the 70 into the 85 or sell the 85 for what I am into it and bite the bullet and my savings to get the 70?

Thanks for the help,

Terry

Re: What would you guys do?

sell the 85 and get the 70, once the 70 is done it will be worth more imho than the 85. the 70 is a better truck no smog etc.

Maybe to be fair, you should ask this in the 73-87 forum too.

I think your heart is in the 70, if you have the money then your not really losing on what you sold it for...

Do what you feel is in your heart, but it sounds a little high for the 70.

I have a feeling you will just kick yourself more if you let the '70 go again. Could you work out some sort of trade?

Just consider the $1800 difference and money you would've spent fixing it. Get the 70 back.

Well there you have it. You regret selling the '70, and you have a chance to buy it back for the same price you sold it for -- plus $1800 for a new, installed engine & trans.

Uh... what was your question?

Re: What would you guys do?

Personally, I think the price is too high for the 70.

I agree with stocker though, considering what you got for it, and the cost of the parts the new owner has installed, you'll probably "be ahead" money-wise.

Do what makes you the happiest, only you can really answer that question.

Re: What would you guys do?

Buy the 70 back and sell the 85 you will be much happier. I completely regret selling my 72 and if I could do it all over again i never would have cause now i'm knee deep in a complete resto on a 68. You'll have peace of mind once you buy the 70 back. Good luck with it.

Re: What would you guys do?

had abou the same thing happen. I had a 70 CST LWB in high school (2005). It had been in new paint under a year, new interior, grille, fresh motor, national event winning truck and I traded it for a GSXR 600 my senior year. I could have hung myself over that deal. I could have bought it back for under $2000 several times, but the new owners have ruined my perfect truck. I couldn't go through the whole truck again, so I bought what I wanted the whole time I had my long bed, a SWB 4x4!

If it is still in the same shape, buy the 70. You won't have to live with the regret that way!

You wouldn't have asked us if somewhere deep you didn't really want the 70 to be the answer. I think you'll always regret if you don't get the 70.

Re: What would you guys do?

I think I am going to pull the trigger on the 70..... its just a big price to pay and I dont want to pay it just because I am attached to the truck. I picked my 69 up for 5500 and is pretty damn clean.
