Transfer Case Joke Question

Hey Guys, I am extremely new to the 4X4 scene and was wondering why some people are running a fixed rear joke on the transfer case instead of a slip joke.

Thanks

Re: Transfer Case Joke Question

Slip-yoke eliminators are generally used in lifted 4x4s because of driveline angles. The more angle there is to the driveline, the harder it is for it to simply slide in/out. This results in bearing damage to the out-put bearing and seal. It is far better for the length of the shaft itself to change than to beat-up the back of the transfercase.

Re: Transfer Case Joke Question

Also, if you break the rear drive shaft or u joint, You can simply remove the rear driveshaft (or whats left of it), and drive out on the front. You cant do that if you have a rear slip yoke, (Or joke).

Re: Transfer Case Joke Question

Being old school I think they should be called slip jokes.I think they took a step in the wrong direction when they went to slip yokes.
