Hey guys, my temp guage is really fluttering when I'm traveling. I can also see it spin during the flutter. I need to know how hard it is to change and r new ones still available?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure someone else on here knows more than me and will reply but yes they are available. And no, not hard to replace. I took apart my dash to get to my gauges the other day and took about 5-10 min to take apart and 10 to put back together. I had to disconnect my clock so it would stop running as the noise just bothered me and drained my battery of the last of its juice.

But yes, they are available. Go to a Pick-a-part and pick one up. LMC has them but I heard LMC isn't that great and I am noticing they are over priced on my "wish list" I am making for my truck.

Gotta admit, those clocks r loud. Don't need an alarm with them either.

Your gauge might be a ok. If its an electric water temp gauge it'll be your sending unit which is bolted down into the block or where ever you can acces antifreeze from. Looks like a sensor. Id check that 1st before digging into the dash and replace the gauge which could be 100% good.

Usually the sending unit has a nipple look a like connector onto which after years of use comes lose inside the sending unit which will cause the gauge to flutter especially going over bumps or dipps.

make sure that your thermostat is good and the antifreeze is good ( proper level and no air bubbles) before you go accusing your temp guage of being bad.... also they are available aftermarket but id try and find an OEM at the boneyard as i too have had bad experiences with aftermarket things and LMC has had a host of problems with our members orders

If it pegs out, the wire is hitting ground. Mine did that once. The needle moved like it was possessed when I hit bumps in the road!

The insulation had burned off the wire from the sender, and it was grounding out on the valve cover or intake. It is a green wire that runs across the driver's side valve cover on mine, and goes to a sender at the front of the head. I replaced the wire, and it has been fine ever since.

Makes me wander if it's not the sending unit,as i installed a new radiator 2 years ago. I'll replace that first. Thanks.

Well, guys, I finally found out what the problem was on my temp guage. Apparently it was just a loose connection. I took the wire off a few times. and put it back on. I took a road trip yesterday and it got to 210 degrees and didn't move at all. Problem solved, I HOPE!
