It`s a Custom Camper,man.

What is it with all these people calling Custom Campers Camper Specials? If your name was Paul would you want people calling you Fred? It`s kinda funny and doesn`t bother me that much.I`ve had people say "up" but I knew they meant "down" before, too. It`s about not letting history take a bum steer when I correct people.GM called their trucks Camper Specials through`72.I like the name, that`s what they are, there are Camper Campers and these ain`t them, and I just believe a name is for ID...so call it what it is.It`s like saying you have a Cheyenne Deluxe,a Super Grande,a CSP (Custom Sport Pickup),a Custom Super...you get what I`m sayin`?Not meaning to come off as a jerk, but I`m into these trucks and I like to see info kept straight, that`s all.

A peeve of mine too. I always despised people calling anything 4wd w/o a bed a Jeep too.

Just because is lowered and it has rims does not make it a restomod or protouring

Re: It`s a Custom Camper,man.

So other good points here.Hey Andy,I have a`70 Chevy Ranger XLT.
Ok Eric,It`s Super Custom Camper Cruiser to you!Only`67 and only GMC.They are Custom and they are special, but they ain`t no Custom Cruiser or Camper Special.
I also have a Super Cheyenne.Ooop! I let out another peeve fart.Does anyone have a TTCS?It`s a Truck That`s Custom Sport. They built them for the future when Pro-touring kicked in.
I guess none of this is as bad as guys calling my GMC a Chevy.Hey,I like Chevys and own some, too,as in for many decades. But,a GMC is a GMC and a Chevy is a Chevy, right? That`s like seeing a GTO and saying,"Nice SS".My dad always drove Cadillac El Devilles. So,I know a thing or two,you see?

Re: It`s a Custom Camper,man.

In the Chevy parts catalog I use at work for these old trucks has the camper rpo listed as Camper Special, that's where I got it at.

Yeah, there will always be people that don't know jack about cars/trucks. I was at the gas station last week and had a guy walk up and say "I like your truck, a 64 right?" I politely replied it was a 72 and talked to him for a few, nice guy.

Camper special, custom camper, Super special grande cheyenne custom camper go surf and get drunk mobile all works for me

I'm confused by this part of your post, wasn't it ford that called them camper specials through '72 (like longhornman said)? I've loved these trucks for a long time and I've had mine for 10+ years and I thought up until you guys corrected me about a year ago it was a camper special.

I thought I edited that to correct when I proof read (which I usually don`t do). It`s edited now,I had a few.Ford kept on calling them Camper Specials after`72,also.
I`ve had my Blazers called Broncos.I`m a kindhearted man and they are all still walking without a limp as far as I know. I started using K/5 rather than Blazer unless being specific.Noting like a GM man calling a Jimmy a Blazer.Names just matter to me.They are for the purpose of I.D. and it ain`t no I.D. if it it`s naming something else. It`s like calling a tire a wheel.Today is Sunday, not Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,or Saturday...just Sunday. If you say Sunday we all know what day you`re talking about. One day this week works fine if being specific doesn`t matter.Just like saying your truck has the camper package. That`s just what it is,whether GM,Dodge,Ford,IH,or whatever.

Re: It`s a Custom Camper,man.

Names of things have always bugged me too. Many people use the word "Jeep" to discribe a 4 wheel drive w/o a pick-up bed. Blazer/Bronco/Land Cruiser/etc

I usually junk blow it off as a non car-guy who just doesn't know any better.
