Does your truck have a louvered shield under the motor

I believe at on time I saw a shield installed under the frame in front of the motor that had louvers in it. Obviously this is not an original shield on my k10, but I was wondering if anyone has ever seen one on a 2WD or 4WD.

Re: Does your truck have a louvered shield under the motor

that looks like an afterthought from someone.
you should put those sections of frame back in where it was cut out for what looks might have been a wider rad. that is a real weak spot on 4 x 4's where the strg box is. looks like someone has already welded something onto the inside,
if you are going to remove the winch, I do have an extra set of frame horns. I put a set back on mine after I removed the winch bumper
I see that you got the eng perches in

Yes I'll be filling in the gaps from the oversize rad that must have been in there. He had welded an additional 3/16" plate on the outside of the steering box as well. The holes are OK, don't know why he did that.
I cut the frame horns from a 66 GMC that I scrapped so they'll replace the section of channel and dangling frame horns he had bubble gum'd on.
Winch stays though, don't know if it works yet but it's another accessory from the 1963 Silver Book.
Those are the perches that came with the 327. I still have to install the 292 offset perch.

Re: Does your truck have a louvered shield under the motor

those frames crack in around the strg box. I looked for 5 years for those V8 mounts and didn't find any. the 292 were more common in 4 x 4's I think
I put in the 67 283 mounting which consists of a crossmember and tightens up that area in there as the bellhousing crossmember is removed and put in a p/g crossmember under a t5. still debating whether or not that I may fab something at the rear spring hangers if required

Re: Does your truck have a louvered shield under the motor

Might want to look at my build thread. The rear section of the frame where the snubbers were located took a beating. Thinking of boxing the frame there.

Re: Does your truck have a louvered shield under the motor

It seems to have a couple of reinforcing pleats in it. The single hole towards the front?
