Fuel Sending Unit Filter?

My sending unit works and is in good shape, but the filter at the pick-up end has came apart.

I noticed that new units in the catalog look like they don't even have this filter on the end.

Can I buy just the filter somewhere?

Would it be okay to tear it the rest of the way off and not run it at all? I have an inline filter.

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Filter?

I just replaced my sender last night and based on the amount of grit I discovered in my tank, I think you want to keep a filter in there. My sending unit was like new (have no idea why it failed) and the filter is in excellent shape. If you want it, and assuming I can get it off, I'll sell it to you for a few bucks.

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Filter?

The new senders have the filters. At least all the ones that I have seen. We have 4 or 5 in stock. WES

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Filter?

i personally remove them and run without.
If I'm going to have a clogged filter on the side of the road, I'd prefer to not have to drop the tank.
Mechanics make fun of dodge for putting the only fuel filter in the tank.
