Picked this up for my wife this morning...she's been wanting one since the day we met 20 years ago. I'll post more pics later.

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
What kind of repair is that to the lower QP? Hows the trunk? Looks like a nice start. Congrats.

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
Looks to be pop riveted under the old skin
Shouldn't be too bad to fix, it looks like a really clean car! Congrats! ...and what is this "spare motor."

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
The new skin was flanged, and the installed under the original. What looks like pop rivets is actually brass pushing through the holes. All the outer skin repairs were done with brass to keep any moisture from between the panels.....Old school way of doing things. The guys was planning on leading the seams as well.

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
Yeah, The guy I bought it from considered those rollers. I think the wife has decided on no larger than 17s. Probably Torque Thrust IIs or Coys.
The car is remarkably straight and solid. which leaves more time amd money for drivetrain and chassis.

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
Well, I had 3 SBCs: the L31/LT4 350 Vortec I just built, the all original '67 camel humped 327 4brl in Bessie and my most excellent 307 residing in Screamin.
So now I have some rearranging to do I guess. The 327 and Screamins 700R4 will go to the Malibu. The 307 will go into Bessie, and the 350 will go into Screamin with a built 700r/4L60. Or something along those line....

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
Well we stripped off the front sheet metal expecting to see some rust issues in the firewall and front body mounts...I was very pleased to see that everything was solid besides the battery tray.
With no rust issues to worry about, we started swapping out the 4 wheel manual drum brakes and getting it ready for the C4 Vette 4-wheel disks... So far we have the booster installed and the pedal assembly modified. Next step is to go full boar on the spindles and brake assemblies. The wife gave the OK for 17" TT II rims so we'll be going with the 13" rotors in front and 11.75s in the rear.....

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
Gotta love 4 day weekends....got alot done on the brakes before my 20 year old compressor went t!ts up.... Any way, went with C4 13" ZR1 slotted and drilled rotors. We are going to try keeping the rear drums for now with an adjustable proportioning valve....If we cant balance it well enough we'll go to the rear disks.
FYI masonite makes awesome templates, gonna have them cut out of 1/4 steel and powder coated with the rest of the front suspension once we get all the mock up and test fitting done. Check out the rotor diameter compared to the factory hubcaps....17s might be too small...

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
Thought I'd throw in an update on the "Boo... Front brakes are done and the front suspension has been freshened up a bit. Still waiting on rims and a drivetrain before we decide on a ride height.
The rear brakes are finished as well... we went with the LS1 Camaro rear 12" diska with integral drum e-brake. Once we pulled the axles it was pretty much a bolt on scenario. Picked up a 92 700R4 and wet through it, upgraded a few parts ('vette servo, big boost valve, etc. as well as installing a shift improver kit....Don't really know how long it will live behind a healthy small block though. Also went ahead and threw the front end back on in anticipation of wheels and tires as well as keeping peace with the city and neighbors.

Made some good progress over the 4th weekend... Should have the wheels and tires within the next couple weeks so I can work on ride height now that the engines weight is on the suspension....

Its a Spectre Muscle Car Cold Air setup. Unfortuately the Drivers side intake is pointed directly at the M/C so I'll be putting it up on ebay I guess....and figuring something else out....

Re: Found a place to stash my spare motor
Don't know if anybody is still following this, but I figured I would throw in an update and a couple pics....
Got the engine in and fired it up, starter wasn't shimmed right and I wiped a tooth on the flexplate.... Out comes the 700R which was probably a blessing in disguise because the rear cam plug was seeping a bit...and the floor pan needed a bit of persuasion to clear the servo. Finally got the rims and tires test fit and found a couple issues that need to be addressed... The cars altitude in the front needed a change so we pulled the front springs and lopped off a coil from each. Also the lug studs were too short due to the disk conversion so longer ones are on order. Electrical is 98%, including a new fuse box, thermostat controlled dual electric fans, 130 amp CS alternator, etc. are all grafted into the factory harness, etc... Just waitin' on parts and a long weekend to get her on the ground again.
