what are budd wheels?
may be the wrong place, but thought i'd ask.
I'm collecting parts for a re-work on the truck. got a 14 bolt SRW, that may get converted to dual someday. anyway, there's a set of budd dually rims for sale locally, and I'm just wondering what they are. THX

Re: what are budd wheels?
"Technically" Budd is a brand name, but it is generically used to discribe dually wheels.

Re: what are budd wheels?
They're dually wheels, and the front hubs have the spacer so that you use them on the front as well, and thus can readily rotate tires and only carry one spare.

Re: what are budd wheels?
Old school; Bud wheels had the center hub attached to the rim. Dayton Wheels where mounted on a cast spoke hub, the tire was mounted on a separate rim. Most modern wheels are Budd wheels. The red truck has Dayton Wheels, Budd is on the Left.

Re: what are budd wheels?
I only call steel wheels Budds and call the aluminum ones Alcoas, unless they are custom styled. Then, they I`d call them by what the make calls them (since they vary far and wide) followed by dual wheel rims.
