Tires for rally wheels?
Hey gang. I could use a little help selecting some tires. The truck is a 68 SWB with rear leafs. I will have 15x7 rallys up front and 15x8 rallys in the rear. I plan on starting with a 3-3.5/5 drop but, I can see it ending up being more like a 4-4.5/6 drop when all is said and done.
I was thinking 215/70/15 in the front and 275/60/15 in the rear. Only problem is.... the 215/70/15 BFG Radial T/A's are on a nation wide backorder with an unknown ETA. Will that combination even look right with that drop? What other sizes and/or brands of tires would you guys suggest for my situation? Thanks in advance.

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
We are in the same boat brother. I have been looking to order the exact tires for my truck but the backorder thing is killing any hopes of that.

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
I know! Plus the $60 mail-in rebate on 4 BFG tires ends on the 25th. I may see if I can just buy them now and wait for them as long as they aren't discontinued permantly.

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
A 4/6 drop with 215 70 15's up front and 275 60 15's out back is perfect IMO. I am running that exact tire/rallye wheel combo on one of my trucks now. I have a 2.5 spindle drop up front and 4" drop out back. It looks good....but the 4/6 will look even better.

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
Here is another option for the front.
The 215/70-15 is 26.8" tall (I also PREFER this size, but since it is on back order....) These are all BFG Radial TA tires.... 225/70-15 is 27.3" tall (imo it "looks" better on a 7" rim than the 215/70)(also on back order) 215/65-15 is 26" tall (in stock at Tirerack.com)( this might be my choice for a 6.5" rally rim..) 235/60-15 is 26.1" tall (in stock at Tirerack.com) For the rear I would consider the 255/70-15. Other option another brand tire.... Firestone Indy 500 has the 215/70-15 and the 275/60-15 (or 255/70-15), and they show in stock at Tirerack.com...

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
The 215/60 is pretty short. I have 235/60s on the front of my junk and they are too small. I'm going to buy a tire at least an inch taller than they are to get mine looking better. I think you might find the tire you have too small once you get the truck finished.

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
Hey Scoti. What tires are you running on the Bronze Beater? It's got a nice stance. Sweet trucks you got there BTW.

Hmmm.... So that's 27.62" F & 29.1" R. That looks good.

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
For 15x8's all around, 255-60 & 275-60's. What about trading two 8's for some 7's?

Re: Tires for rally wheels?
I think I'm just gonna wait for the 215/70 T/A's. I'm not in a huge rush to get the wheels and tires mounted. There are plenty of other things I can work on in the meantime and I don't want to compromise when it comes to this truck.
