Re: Rear end / transmission performance shops near Snohomish?

I've heard good things (and have had good experience) about Snohomish Transmission in Monroe...they are right around the corner from where I work. They rebuilt a 700R4 for a friend of mine and he had a few issues with it afterwards and they took care of him. The only work I've had done there was on a manual tranny...they installed new bearings on an SM-465 I had. All of my neighbors told me to go there when I was looking for a shop.

Re: Rear end / transmission performance shops near Snohomish?

I just ordered a new th350 from Jegs - it was cheaper than a rebuild to hold 400+hp

If you have anything other then that though(th400/200r4/700r4), it will be cheaper to rebuild...

For the rear end try Randy's Ring and Pinion - they are 'the' place to take it, but aren't cheap...

Hey - just now getting back to this thread. Thanks for the feedback

Randy's ring and pinion sounds like someplace I need to stop and talk - have yet to find anyone over on the eastside (where I work) who does more than factory style stock rebuilds.

May also check out that transmission shop in monroe - though not sure they do custom or hotrod style work. I kicked the idea around - buying a new one that is. Already buying that 383 stroker from Jegs, may as well look a little closer at my other costs and see what the bottom line is. Lots to be said for a fresh purpose-built transmission.

Lots to be said for a fresh purpose-built transmission. <--- agreed, that was the route I decided on after pondering it for months.

I got the 405hp/440ft-lb Blueprint 383 from Jegs, Jegs TH350 with a 2300stall, and my stock driveline rebuilt and beefed up by Drivelines NW with a new yoke/u-joints/etc...my rear end is the weak link at this point but will have to make it for a year or so until I swap the gears to 3.42, add a limited slip diff, and swap to Moser 5 lug axles - hopefully it will be fine if I just baby it a bit. My truck should be rolling for the first time in 1.5 years.

Here is a pic of the 383 for ya!

Thats the one alrighty - the blueprint 383 stroker. Sounds like you have done alot of the things I'll have to be doing. Drivelines NW is on my list already - will be all over 'em once I finish blasing/painting the chassis and begin reassembly. I like your installation, curious which headers you chose... Congrats - nice to get the machine back on the road

I'm working on a 68 C20 thats been designated for towing duties. I'll need to stick with my 8 lug setup but I know exactly zero about chevy rear ends, etc.

Now I'll spend the next few hours reading through Jegs cat online... my boss thanks you =)

Re: Rear end / transmission performance shops near Snohomish?

They are the long tube Hedman headers, but I would not use them again if I had to, or recommend them. The plug for #5 is nearly impossbile to get in/out, they hit the brake line on the passenger side, so I had to reroute it, and they touch the driver side lower control arm so you have to bang in one of the tubes slightly and get a 90 degree zirc fitting for the arm. I don't know what would be better to use to avoid this, and keep the long tubes, but these were a nightmare. It's not fun when you spend $300 on coated headers that will supposedly fit with no issues, only to spend more money and hours upon hours of time rerouting/bending brake lines and then essentially ruin them, just so they will fit...but they do sound good!

From what I've heard, snohomish transmission can do stock or whatever you want. They also do rear ends too. There is a driveline shop around the 124th exit off 405 kinda by tacoma screw that does good work, I just cant remember the name...when I do I'll post it up

Give Ellis at speed secrets a call. He did my 700r4 rebuild for me. I believe he did work for snohomish transmission, but it out on his own now. Great Guy. Let him know I sent you.

5 minutes from my house, badass, I wonder if they can help tune my carb and fuel/air mixture once I get this thing rolling?!

Re: Rear end / transmission performance shops near Snohomish?

BTW - thanks all for the contributions here. I'm pretty sure that:

Driveline goes to drivelines NW - had 6 different folks extoll their virtues, they also seemed ready to go to work when I spoke with em.

RearEnd is Randy's - got lots of good info and education from em. Will have 450 torque and a large towing load... I dont mind making a little spend here. The work is easy enough, just tedious and stinky.

Trans - sheesh Beatcoaster is right - 795 for a new th400, drop in, clean n bright, and built crisper than stock. Even with shipping it seems better than paying 800 for a rebuild(would use Monroe's shop for this if I did it, they were ready to roll and understood what I wanted). Jegs it is, will order the th400 the same time I order that 383 stroker motor.

Its gonna take a month or two (lol)for the big spend, starting with driveline and rearend. I still have to media blast, repair, prime/paint the chassis and rebuild the front end before the motor/trans anyway. Good to have ducks in a row first, thanks again.
