ONE RARE BIRD!!! (warning, graphic pics)

I can't imagine there were many of these even back in 72. This was a 157" wheelbase, so the decals would have been the front 1/2 only. The paperwork is pretty well ruined, but i can read some of it inside. I know alot of people won't know what is special about this one, but for the ones that do know, a moment of silence.......

Re: ONE RARE BIRD!!! (warning, graphic pics)

What a pity..... Not too many Sport Birds around at all, let alone an eagle, and let alone the 1 ton. Thanks for sharing the pics Eric. Trevor

Re: ONE RARE BIRD!!! (warning, graphic pics)

That really sucks. That was a cool piece. I am glad you got pictures.
Did it have tow hooks? Looks like it may have had them and someone literally ripped the passengers one off.

See if you can buy it looks like it may be restorable with some effort. What is special about it anyway?

Frame looks good andit has drivetrain looks like.

I hope you at least saved the glovebox door. I agree, that's gotta be extremely uncommon.

Re: ONE RARE BIRD!!! (warning, graphic pics)

Glad you like the pics trevor.
71swb, no hooks on this one.
Hogdaddy, this thing is junk. The frame may be saved, but that is it. It is special in that it had a "mod bod" The eagle package is quite rare.
JDL, i couldn't get much. There is heavy equipment only 20 feet away picking up cars, so i didn't dilly-dally... The glovebox door looks good in my garage...
68 stepside, see above post.
67 slammer, that is a 72 cheyenne i parted and crushed a couple of weeks ago. These are all on crush row.

It had a PTO. Wonder what it was used for. Also has the rare 'I am too lazy to pull the bellhousing when I did the clutch' relieved crossmember.

That's the first thing I noticed. I'd like to have the PTO drive box and control and shaft out of that truck.

Re: ONE RARE BIRD!!! (warning, graphic pics)

That is a strange combination of vehicles in one pic.
A pre-'78 Furd 4x4
A late 60s Roadrunner/Satelite
A late 90s Caprice
A 79-80 ish Buick Regal
A late 60s Galaxie
An early 60s Dart
An early 70s Mercury Comet
A late 60s Impala
An Ecsort? on top of the S-10

I'm not sure about the one to the leftof the Comet? some kind of Nissan? sure loos out-of-place there

Re: ONE RARE BIRD!!! (warning, graphic pics)

Randy, yes it does suck, but at least i caught it before it was totally gone.
tcb, the glovebox door is waxed up and on display in my garage.
Rob, trying to get ahold of bruce on the pto stuff.
sublvr, it was available in 72 and was basically an exterior dress up package. There were other styles and could be had on the burbs, and blazers also. I have a brochure here somewhere.
Hogdaddy. 292 originally and a small block now.
Bob, good eye on the cut cross member. Not sure what the truck was used for.
beepster, the sway bar didn't seem bigger to me, but without seeing them side by side...
tx fire, hopefully it will get saved.
Longhair, i think you only missed one there. The roadrunner is actually an AMC.
Truck dude, there really isn't much there. Hard to say if the frame is even good since it was in the middle of a stack that tipped over.

It was part of the Mod Bod package. Thanks to Too Much Stuff for the scan of the flyer and northerngmc for the pic of the white truck. The blue one was borrowed from flicker. What a shame. Would have been a cool one to save.
