He`s joking,of course. No,there is no danger. If you had a serious enough vapor leak I believe you`d get fumed out before burned out.Just make sure you use your ashtray so you don`t start a fire in your bed or elsewhere.Besides, the filters don`t break down and are trash. In Maryland it`s a $1,000 fine for littering.

Re: Smoking in my truck

I would venture to guess that people have been doing it since these trucks were new largely without incident. However, that's not to say something catastrophic couldn't happen. I always thought about the possibility of something bad happening when I smoked in my truck since the gas tank was just behind me, but I did it nonetheless. I am interested to see what some of the responses are to this. I am sure someone has a story about something crazy happening with a smoky treat in one of these trucks.

Re: Smoking in my truck

I used to pound the Luckies in my old '68 and never had a problem. I've quit since then so I don't smoke in my '71.

Besides the dangers pointed out by the Surgeon General to your health I doubt you have to worry. Hell, the truck came from the factory with an ash tray.

Re: Smoking in my truck

like mentioned before... if any leaks in the tank were bad enough to cause an issue, you'd be chased out from the fume induced headache.
I've been smoking in all of mine for over a decade.

Re: Smoking in my truck

If you're worried about fumigating yourself .. I wouldn't (other than the obvious dangers smoking presents in any environment) because these cabs are far from airtight.

Makes your truck stink but it's *your* truck, not *my* truck so I can't classify that as *my* problem.. lol

This has brought back memories for me by mentioning the wing window and smoking.

I smoked in all my trucks and cars up until I quit in 76 and what cdowns said here is what I did ..

I pufffed and then held the hot end of the cig up to the slightly opened wing window and the air passing by would take the ash off along with the smoke .

As for a fire,, I never in all my years heard of a cigarette causing a fire in the cab due to the gas tank being behind the seat.
