Quick Backspacing Question

Hey there guys, just got a quick backspacing question for wheel fitment. Installed belltech 5/7 and in the instructions that came with, it stated that a wheel with more than 3.5" of backspacing will require trimming of the control arms. Can anyone confirm if this holds true for 18" and larger wheels? Trying to get around trimming the stupid things! All help is appreciated greatly!

Re: Quick Backspacing Question

ah just grind the first few inches of the "rain gutter" off for good measure! but you should be ok with 18's. just put them on and if you cant turn more the wheel fully then grind away!

Re: Quick Backspacing Question

Shouldn't be any issue with 18's or larger, Mine had to be ground down to clear the 15's....

Re: Quick Backspacing Question

So you guys figure I should be okay then with an 18 or 20 inch wheel? Also, which do you suggest, 20's or 18's? The rims themselves for a set of four have about a $125 difference, but how much would tires cost? Any suggested tire sizes?

Re: Quick Backspacing Question

Like the others said you should be ok with an 18 or 20 but I always trim the control arms in case you have to run a spare or factory wheels for some reason.

Re: Quick Backspacing Question

I rubbed my control arms slightly with 17s, but never with my 19s. 18+ should be fine. I'd still go ahead and trim them anyhow just to be safe unless you're buying an 18"+ matching spare too.
