LQ4 Swap, Performance Online or Stock Mounts

I am finally getting around to putting an LQ4 into my 68. I have the motor in using the stock 6 cyl perches and motor mounts. I like that it sits way back in the engine compartment, but dont like the stock mounts with the center hole in the mount.

Can i use the peformance online pedestals and keep the motor in the same location or will using them mean i have to move the motor forward to the sbc location?

Re: LQ4 Swap, Performance Online or Stock Mounts

I ordered the ECE mounts. No more one-hole wonder for me!!!

There are good pictures of the mounts here: http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sho...d.php?p=447787

Re: LQ4 Swap, Performance Online or Stock Mounts

Do they keep the Motor in the rear most hlocation?

Are you running manifolds ?

I see that prothan has a 7-519-BL. Mount in the originalstyle t should be stronger.

Re: LQ4 Swap, Performance Online or Stock Mounts

I bought some of the CPP perches ( 6372MPT) and ended up not using them because I went with the tubular mounts from POL. The CPP units set the engine to the front and it didnt work for me, I still have the CPP mounts if you would be interested.

I think it will move the engine forward more. Can you post some pictures of the LQ4 position with the 6 cyl perches?

I don't have them yet, so I can't give you any more details, but it appears to use the front and rear frame mount hole, possibly placing the motor right in the middle of the 6 and 8 cyl. stock positions. I'm not sure on this though.

I am planning on using headers, but everything I've seen points to nothing being an exact fit except the Thorley's, but I want bigger primaries.

Clyde, any input on where the pol mounts put the engine? Do they use the rear 6 cyl frame holes?

Re: LQ4 Swap, Performance Online or Stock Mounts

Ordered the POL mounts last wed, still havent seen them.

I ended up trying pontiac G8 manifolds. THEY WORK! You can use the stock 6 cyl pedestals in the stock location.

Re: LQ4 Swap, Performance Online or Stock Mounts

The POL mounts can put them in the forward or rearward mounting points, whichever you need. I tried stock mounts and after many swear words, I got them installed. However nothing would fit for exhaust manifolds, I tried stock truck, fbody and I also tried Sanderson shorties. When I put the POL mounts on it moved the motor up about 1" or so which made room for my Sanderson headers. I put them as far back as I could since I wanted dual electric fans with the stock radiator.

ECE I believe stradles both and puts the motor right in the middle of the mount holes.
