Stupid P.o.s.!!!!!!!

Well my truck decided to go poot. It still runs but when i start it up there a clicking/ticking/knocking noise the gets faster as the rpms increase. It sounds like it coming from the back of the engine but i havent messed with it yet, (started tonight) will pull it in the shop and look at it tomorrow, but what should i be looking for?
Any help would be great.

Cameron

It's definetely something which is engine rpm related, do drivetrain is not it because it's not moving. You will need to see where it's coming from, bottom or top? If top, it's probably a lifter or cam lobe going flat. A rod won't click. A rod makes a pecking sound sort of like pecking on the side of the block with something. Pecking sounds like lifter, rocker arm, pushrod, or cam to me.

If I were guessing, and this is all it is, a guess, I would guess at lifter or cam lobe. Probably cam lobe going flat. But don't panic until you figure it out.

If you don't turn up anything else and it's an Automatic check for a crack in your flex plate.

Can you tell if it happens every revolution or once every OTHER revolution?

once per rev is crank/rods/etc

once every other will be valvetrain..

8 out of 10 times it will be a flat lobe on the cam, a loose or worn rocker arm, or a cam lobe that went flat... get a stethoscope (a couple feet of heater hose), and remove the valve covers and start the motor and have a look
