Fuel tank in the bed?
I seem to recall a couple folks had mounted their in-cab tanks in the bed, I'm wondering the feasibility of this for a temporary relocation. I have a need for in-cab storage but am not ready to drop $250 to move the tank all the way to the rear yet (couple months). Would this work, or would it be better for me to pick up a 10gallon or so portable marine tank and secure it back there for now. I only drive a couple times a week and usually not too far, so 10 would cover me fine for now. Actually, is that even legal?

Re: Fuel tank in the bed?
Thanks, but I'm talking a budget of like a length of fuel line and/or maybe a $20 walmart boat tank... I'm strapped till the middle of next month... at least.

Re: Fuel tank in the bed?
I like how it is sitting almost directly on top of the flowmasters . Don't worry, I've had redneck setups too!

Re: Fuel tank in the bed?
you don't have to spend big money for a rear tank. many guys here have used 73-91 Blazer tanks. I have one from an 89 I got on craigslist for free. it even came with the TBI pump/sender and 1/3 tank gas.
many junk yards sell tanks for about $20 |

Re: Fuel tank in the bed?
Someone around here took the tank out of the cab and strapped it to the front panel in the bed with small ratchet straps. Looked pretty safe to me.

Damn good question, I should have lead in with that... mine is 6" dropped in the rear. I think I've seen a number of others though with a drop and rear tank, but would love a 'from experience' answer |
