Re: rocker panel replacement photos

These pictures are great, i need to do this soon already have the rocker panel. Now, who would like to add some captions to these pictures?

I guess the first picture shows him drilling out the original welds? Then he folds the outer rocker down and cuts along that seam?

Thanks!

Chris

Re: rocker panel replacement photos

Great thread Jon. Here are some more.

P.S. - The rocker didn't need to be replaced, due to rust, but the knuckle head at the media blaster's shop, T-boned the rocker with the fork truck fork, so it needed to be replaced. This is the only tin on the entire truck that had to be repaired or replaced.

Fingers work good in tight areas and so do acid brushes.

Re: rocker panel replacement photos

I notice in one of the pics, he has picked away the bad metal from the lower forward pillar. Does this weaken the support or should you worry about it? Mine is pretty similar and I was gonna do the job but then thought I would have to add the expense of changing the lower front and rear pillars. Looks like he just cleaned em, sprayed em and welded the rocker on there and called it good.

Re: rocker panel replacement photos

if that was my truck i would defenitely replace the a pillar too.since they are now reproduced they are even easier to replace.when i done a 66 back in 94 the a pillar's on that truck had to be hand formed from flat stock since they were not available then.
