Pinion Angle Shims

I just put 5 inch drop coils and 1 1/2'' blocks from CPP, 6 1/2'' drop now and I was wondering if anyone else has done this and what degree pinion angle shims they used and where to get them. thanks

i got a cheap magnetic angle finder from harbor freight to find the correct angle that my pinion needed to be at, with the drop blocks installed. then i took the blocks back out and took them to a machine shop and had them machined to the correct angle. CPP is the only place i found that sold pinion shims to fit the 67-72's and they wanted $70 a pair. you can have you blocks machined for $20-30 or you can have a pair of shims made for around $50 at a machine shop or online or you can pay cpp another $70 for their shims. cpp used to charge $20-30 for them in the catalog, but when you order them they are $70.
i actually called and asked why they more than doubled the price....they told me that no one sells these anymore and they are having the CPP logo stamped into them. the sales guy went on to tell me their cost is $30, so they sell for $70.

i threw my cpp catalog away after that.

Alright thanks, yeah I saw they have them for $70 but no way i'm paying that lol but like you said just getting them machined to the proper angle would probably be the way to go thanks for the input!

no problem. i just went through the same deal when i bagged my rear and used drop blocks.

hopefully you can find a decent machine shop that wont rip you off. a good machinist should be able to fix you up. they usually have a minimum shop charge of $30-40 bucks.
