ECE 4/6 drop/ wheel size

Hey I'm trying to figure out what wheel/tire size I will need. I recently got an ECE 4/6 drop kit and I'm wondering what sizes would look best. Can anyone running a similar setup post pictures of their truck with the wheel/tire dimensions? Thanks.

Re: ECE 4/6 drop/ wheel size

there is a thread around here with the whole purpose of showing pics with different wheel tire combos, I Think, it's something like, "wheel/tire fitment pics" or something, search around and you'll find it.

Take your pick... been there done it.

Check out my build thread (Project: Blank Slate) for a complete break down of the install of the 4.5/6" ECE drop kit, as well as the right of passage it took to find the right shoes.

Re: ECE 4/6 drop/ wheel size

I would venture to say.... There are many different size wheels that will work. It's more about the overall height of the tires and the backspacing of the wheels.

I think for a lowered truck you want a tire that is about 1-2" shorter than a stock tire in the front and about the same in the rear. Also, I think you want more of a "street" or "performance" tire as opposed to an all-terrain tire.

I'm thinking either 17 or 18s all around, 9.5" width in the rear and 8" in the front. I need to figure out the backspacing as well regarding what my limits are.

Re: ECE 4/6 drop/ wheel size

David, I would also recommend measuring your truck for the "perfect" fit as each truck is different. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Man that looks awesome...did the Coys just fit right in perfectly or did you have to do some modifications?

I had to do a little grinding on the front hubs for the center cap to clear. Took about 15 minutes On the rears I used longer studs since I converted it to disc brakes.

Re: ECE 4/6 drop/ wheel size

That looks great! Anyone have any stepside pictures with a 9.5" wheel in the back? I've put the bed back on and have put a 9.5" corvette wheel in it just to see if it would fit but i do not yet have the drop kit installed and the back is just up on jacks so I cannot see if the fender would go over the tire with a 4/6 drop. That was another concern of mine. It seems like it would be a VERY tight fit if the fender ended up being lower than the top of the tire... Does anyone know if it'll be able to clear?

Re: ECE 4/6 drop/ wheel size

I put the 9.5" corvette wheel on the floor jack and lifted it up into the wheel well to find that the clearance is good. Now to the backspacing!
