Square Body Madness!!!

So as I stated in my build thread, the wife and I have moved back to our hometown for the summer to take an internship. Well, since being back I have been spotting squares like crazy!! Wish I had money and space to store them cuz I would be buying them up like crazy!! Anyways, I am going to start this thread to post pics of all the squares I spot this summer.

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

Found this 77 step side here in town the other night on a drive with the wife. Stopped to talk to the guy. Said he was selling it and wanted $1200 but I could have driven it away for $1000. Dang college kid budget!! I need some extra cash!!

This one is sitting in this guys yard just about 10 miles from my in-laws house. I stopped to talk to him but nobody was home. His yard was FULL of projects.

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

I have been trying to catch this guy sitting still for about a week now. Finally spotted him at a grocery store. Really nice guy, even took me for a spin around the block!! This little shortbox is gonna be sweet when he finishes it! Gives me inspiration to get mine on the road. He had a built 355 in it but was getting ready to drop in a 496 big block!!! It was a tire scorcher with the 355 I cant imagine how hot it will run with that big block!

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

Saw these two sitting at a car lot in Boise. The Chalet was a super clean all original beauty!! The red longbed was a decently cool ride. Had some cheesy stuff done to it. The info on the window said it had 45 grand in a "NASCAR" style suspension. Not really sure what that means. It was LOW though. And no bags!!!

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

And I have to post up a pic of my brother in laws long bed 4wd. Its a pretty cool rig. Its got a really hot motor in it that he bought from my boss when I worked at a hot rod shop a couple years back. That motor really needs to be in a 2wd or a car. It makes most of its power at the higher RPMs. It will roast the tires on this truck!!!

That truck was nice but like I said, some cheesy stuff was done to it. The mirrors were one of them. They didnt fit very well and instead of doing it right the person who put them on just used plexiglass and epoxy to fill in the void left by the old vent window. ghetto!

They are super cool!! I have heard that they made less than 2000 of them. I have always wanted to take one and lift it on 35s. Make it my hunting/expedition truck.

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

All of those are really cool... well, cept for the red one. It could use a few things changed around.

So I regularly see comments that people make stating that square bodies are uncommon to see in their area. It's strange, because there's still bunches of them around here. There has to be at least 20 of them here in my little town, not including mine.

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

I was thinking a little more about it, there may be around 30 or so in this town. I guess I'm lucky. Still a lot of the boxy fords though too, but not many Dodges.

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

yah, there are a ton of square bodies around here so parts arent scarce. The short boxes are always a little more un-common I think no matter where you are. I can find long beds and 3/4 tons and 4wds all day long.

No kidding. The only thing that looks right on that truck is the front clip.

Its a 76. He has pieced it together from a few different trucks but the starter truck was a 76.

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

Saw this one at the drag races a few weekends ago. There were actually quite a few squares at the track but I couldnt ever catch the other ones sitting still. This guy had a brand new 454. Claims he has 600 horse. Ran a 15.4 quarter so something wasnt hooking up. Nice truck though.

Re: Square Body Madness!!!

Ran into this guy sitting on the side of the street. Had a built 327 in it. He swares up and down that this is the stock height! Said it was a special edition that came this low from the factory. Maybe I could be enlightened by someone on this board weather or not this is true. I have my doubts!
