Extra port on my tank

hey guys. i was wondering what i should do with my extra port? i want to add a schraeder valve to it, or maybe a coupling for an air hose, or drain?

just wondering what i would get most use out of/and what everyone else is doing. thanks for any input!

edit - forgot to add my tank is an 8 port tank. 4 for the valves, 1 on top for my tank gauge, 1 on the side for the pressure switch, and 1 on the other side for the compressor. bottom one is empty

Why not do both?

If your compressor goes out, you could manually add air to your tank......

Re: Extra port on my tank

I always just use the coupler to full the tank. I have a fitting that is male on both ends and just hook the air hose straight up to it if I need air while I'm working in the shop.

Re: Extra port on my tank

well I want the schroeder (sp) valve in case my compressor poops and I can fill my tank at a gas station or wherever.

I was browsing around ***************** and I'm having a hard time finding the right fittings lol. Ace didn't help at all, so I'm just gonna order them, I need airline anyways. what would I need to run a setup like harg robs, of course the cheapest easiest way possible!

Re: Extra port on my tank

I think I got it.....

I got 1 3/8" brass tee, 1/2" - 3/8" forged elbow (for tee to tank), and 2 1/4" - 3/8" reducing bushings (for schroeder valve and coupler).

Re: Extra port on my tank

^^^ agreed %100

you would be surprized how much water these wil get in them from condinsation....

I put the drain in the bottom and put a 90* on the top with a piece of hoes running the a hole in the back of the frame that has a shrader and a snap fitting it makes it easy to fill and the location is easy if I have to use the air in the tank to fill something.....I use the same tech as Smashing Chuck when I'm around the shop working on it I plug into the shop compressor

another good idea it s to use shut offs on each line if you have a line failure it doesn't blead off all the air in the tank (you can shut off the bad line) I didn't do this but when I fix the line I plan to add them for a few $$ its worth it ( ask me how I know??) I beleive that you can't have to many fail safes exspecially it it only cost a few $$

Re: Extra port on my tank

I have two 3 gallon tanks. I put a schrader on each tank, in the port that was point straight down for both the reasons mentioned here. drainage and compressor pooping out.

I also put a coupler on an extra port. but then when i got to thinking about it, it sure is going to be wild unhooking an air line with 175 psi in it.
