Rear fuel tank question
Today I was out at Pates Swap Meet and came home with a few parts for my truck, and the best part all it cost me was $19 for the old lady not to start *****ing. but I thought $6.00 for lemonade was kind of high. I bought this rear gas tank from Kenny's Trucks, met Kenny real nice guy. before i go install it, I have a few questions, first is should i paint the tank? prime the tank put some undercoating on it? will it flash rust if i dont? and then what are all these lines coming out of the tank for? also i will post pics of the straps that came with it im trying to picture on how to mount it and running into a few problems.
also i was out there on friday night met a few of the guys asked a lot of questions. and learned some new words from the luisiana folks. i was the only mexican out there. |

Re: Rear fuel tank question
The two small lines are used for venting or capped if you’re using a vented gas cap.
The larger line in question is for a line up to the filler cap area to allow filling with gas easer. Some would call it a vent line also and it is but it only vents to the upper end of the filler tube to allow the gas to go in the tank. The coating on the tank should keep it from rusting, painting should not be required. I’m planning on painting mine with Duplicolor undercoating. As far as mounting the tank check out my build thread (post #252) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...318544&page=11
