Ohh Sh*t Bars (anyone have?) - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Anyone out there have some "ohh sh*t bars" installed in their truck? If so where did you get them (off what vehicle) and do you have a picture of the installation? I could tell my passengers would like one, I know I do, so I plan to do it in the real near future.

many of the 4X4 and speed shops around here have aftermarket bars in catalogues. Both my Ford escape and ranger have them factory installed ( sorry no pics) If ya drive like me, ya tend to have people grabbing for them and stamping ont he imaginary brake pedal on the right side of the truck. I might suggest ya also install a barf bag dispenser and a really fast power window motor to aid with those of the faint heart and stomach

Isn't that what the steering wheel is for along with the vent visor rail?

Whats a better install in your opinions?

Install One:
Drill 2 small holes in the steel above the door, then weld a couple nuts in place. Then bolt/screw the bars into the nuts. Probly install some loctite on the threads.

Install Two:
Just use some tech screws into the steel to hold the bars into place?

I would prefer to do install one, because it would be easy to remove and replace piece if required. Install 2 is much easier, but wouldnt be as strong. I think I may go with one, unless anyone has a good reason not to.

I think that the sheet metal would not be very strong right there Eddie. If someone had a crushed cab beyond any salvage maybe they could test it out for you without tearing yours up.
