dana 60 front axle sloppy

Got a lot of slop in the outer axle in my dana 60. It's not in the u joint but you can move the whole axle going into the hub. Any help or pictures of what this is suppose to look like would be a huge help. Just started to hear a noise lately and got under it today.

Re: dana 60 front axle sloppy

Is the snap ring on the end of the stub shaft? Without that snap ring the shaft can move in and out of the hub. Its not a huge deal but road and trail dirt will get past seal and get to the bearings on the spindle.

There alot of good break down Pics here http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav...ont/index.html

Jason.

Thanks Jason. I'm going to tear down tomorrow and I;ll look for that. I didn't think of the snap ring but I already checked out pirate last night and it makes sense
