Can a brake booster be tested without starting the vehicle?
Can a brake booster be tested without starting the vehicle?
I have a hand vaccum pump tester thing and i attached it to the booster and pumped it up to 20 and stopped, the booster held the vaccum for 30 min without leaking before i unhooked it. Is there anything else that can go wrong with a booster except for leaking to make it bad? Thanks

is the booster on a truck right now thats not running? or you just have the booster sitting on your work bench at home?
usually if it holds vacuum it should be good, I'm no expert but i know there isn't much too them, just a diaphram and a one way check valve on the vacuum port, and the steel piece that the push-rod that moves the pistons in the master cyl....

Get a big Slurpy straw and stick it in the hole and suck away, it it holds pressure its good Just kidding, if you have a vacuum tester and can hook it to the port somehow, and it holds the vacuum it should be fine.
