New at this
Hello everyone I started restoring a 1969 GMC
C 30 is only 2wd but it has the smaller 16.5 tires that are 8 bolt. I would like to change the stance a little, being it's a one ton. Any suggestions with regards to size and style as well as where to get them. I was also wondering about some colors it's in primer right now. We have come to the conclusion of either red or black but open to suggestions. Thanks for all and any information. It's a pleasure to be in this with everyone. |

Re: New at this
Welcome to the board. I am assuming it is single rear wheel being it is 16.5 rims! I am running Firestone Transforce 9.50rx16.5 tires. You could pickup some 16" wheels with the 6.5" 8 bolt with a 4 3/4" center which would give you more choices in tires.

Re: New at this
Thank you dwaite72lnghrn
Have you had much experience with the 1969 GMC? I have a five dollar question for you......I removed the accelerator pedal and dimmer switch. When I tried to removed the accelerator pedal bolts that attach to the floor both of them broke. They look like a dome shaped shoulder bolt the back of the pedal snaps over to keep it to the floor pan. Would you know where I could pick up a set. So much for just removing the pan quickly and replacing it. Thanks to all. Last edited by dbaillargeon; 05-17-2010 at 09:56 PM. |

Help!!!!
I'm having an issue with my 1966 GMV 305 V6. It starts great when it's cold after it warms up (like are shutting it off at the autoparts store). It want to crank for a long time before it will start you have to flutter the gas and then hold it to the floor. Thanks for any help!

Re: New at this
Welcome to the forum from Southeast Missouri.
If your are talking about the two little bolts with a ball type on the end the the bottom of the accelerator pedal mounts on to some site vendors have them. I have seen them in the LMC catalog. I will have to be buying some when I replace the floor pan. Have you checked your choke to see if it is sticking shut or mis-adjusted? Also the float may be sticking causing the engine to flood. Re: New at this
Can anyone help? I have a 1966 305 V-6 in my 1969 GMC C30, I am having an terrible time with the Stomberg 23-235 that is on it. I am going to upgrade the Carb, I think I would like to put a Edelbrock 1404 or Holley 4412c. I realize I will need and adapter plate. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you are getting some work done on the truck. I can't really help with the carb problem but if you could find another carb to try or just have that one rebuilt it would probably be cheaper. Ask at your local auto parts store if they know of someone that rebuilds carbs. Keep up the good work... LockDoc

Re: New at this
Hello Everyone,
Been awhile since I have been able to post....I would like to ask for a little help. I have a 1969 GMC 1-ton pickup, the box has been changed. The pictures I have posted show it has a step side, but the box is about 6" short near the cab. I have been reading about the longhorns. What were the criteria for a longhorn in '69? Did GMC make a Longhorn? Just need some help figuring my truck out....Thank you

Yes, they had a longhorn but they didn't call it that. If your 1 ton started out as a cab & chassis truck it should have a 133" wheelbase. If that is the case I think the longhorn fleetside bed or the 9 ft. stepside bed are the only ones that will fit it and I am not 100% sure about the 9 ft. stepside bed. LockDoc

Re: New at this
Help!!!
I have my cab finished, I found the cab lights we a newer style, someone just put on to cover the hold in the cab. The cab has the raised platforms for each of the five lights. I don't mind upgrading them to an LED, the original were the "hockey puck" style. Has anyone upgraded to LED or able to buy all the lights again? Any help would be greatly appreciated....???? Thanks again

Re: New at this
Start a new thread for each problem you have, you will get a much better response by putting a proper title on the thread so someone that is interested in that particular subject see it (cab lights for instance). I am not trying to be a jerk, just trying to help. There are a lot of people on this board, and each one knows something about something, but not many know something about everything.
Post a thread titled something like Need help with cab light style for my 69 C30, or something similar. You should get a better response.
