Extang Black Max Tonneau Covers
I purchased an Extang Black Max Tonneau Cover for my 68 C20 longbox from Jegs and I am in the process of installing it tonight and I have a question.
This cover has adjustable snaps for different temperatures. If anyone has one which setting do you use? I am wondering exactly what they mean by warmer and colder? My garage is about 10 C ( 50F) and there is no way it is going on with the tighter setting. I am thinking it might be because it is still new and needs to work flat after being rolled up in the box. So I have it over the truck box partially in place and if this snow stops and the sun comes out I will pull it out of the garage and let the sun warm it.

Re: Extang Black Max Tonneau Covers
Blaine, Its a hot and cold thing. Everything is smaller in cold temperatures. So put it on using the shortest setting. This summer if it sags a little you can flip the snaps and tighten it right up. A brand new cover like that is should be a bear to first strech out even on the small setting Add the cold temp and its harder.

Re: Extang Black Max Tonneau Covers
stretch the cover out and lay it out in the sun before trying to install it ... helps it to be more pliable.
this trick also works with new carpet out of the box to help it lay flat |

Re: Extang Black Max Tonneau Covers
Thanks guys,
Yeah I get the colder equals smaller, I thought 50F should not be COLD! -8 C or about 20F outside right now, but sunny.

Re: Extang Black Max Tonneau Covers
with my extang I got on about as much as I could with it warm...then I took a 5 gallon pail with hot water and poured some on you have to work kinda fast but it does work once you get it on pour the rest of the water on it to help it settle in...

Re: Extang Black Max Tonneau Covers
Well it is on.
I set all the rail snaps to the loose setting and still couldn't get it. So out came the heat gun and I gently warmed sections of it while pulling and it is on.
