question: shelf life of tires if stored in a garage?

So, I'm considering on buying an extra set of tires for my wheels 16.5s, since tires are limited. Anyone know what the shelf life of tires would be in a garage (not controlled ventilation)???

Re: question: shelf life of tires if stored in a garage?

I googled the Shelf life of Tires question, ... one thought said in plastic bags if they are dry with all contaminants removed, such as oil,armour-all etc removed they last a long time, .. apparently storing them next to any electric motors hurts them also, something about ozone, .... one other thought from a tire rep was 5 to 6years........ the last 2 digits of the dot# on tire is the year of manufacture.
