well heres my story, i bought this truck from my uncle for five hundred dollars. it had no motor 4 speed granny box tranz and a service bed on the back. ive had for a little over a year now and even though you cant tell ive gotten alot done. this is one of those trucks that the quote "looks can be deceving" comes to mind. heres some pictures from when i first got her up till now,

some more after the motor. i also have put pretty much new updated running gears in the truck. the hole front suspension system is from a 77 chevy truck, also the rear end and the th400 trans too. the motor is a 305 out of a camaro berlinetta.

haha yah thanks, got a new p/s pump today. i kept throwing the o-ring out due to the fact i didnt have the pump installed right. i finally got around to making a new bracket and then went and bought a new pump. plans are next month im gonna buy door seal, put new windows in (just front and back for now) seal the side windows and sound deadener and a floor mat. then if i have enough do some bondo work on the body and lay some primer down. i still dont have insurance yet but im not planning on driving it anytime soon, now that i have a job i can do a semi frame off on it and actualy do it right. but in the meantime i'll have some pics up of the new p/s pump and bracket, and may even get some work done on the floor panels.

got some sand to do the floors and doors gonna tape everything off in a bit take some pictures and get started then take more pictures. hope my floor board isnt gone when im done haha.

well updates or not need to keep it going. nothing to update. to it for her first long drive. she did ok got hot and it was to be expected. been struggling to find a job and keep it going but i always find a way to get it done. been doing some sand blasting but havent taken any pics, will do tomarrow after i get home from school.

Looks like you have been making pretty good progress. Keep at it, someday you will be driving it and have the pride of doing your own work.

Jobs are a little scarce around here.

I have twin grandsons that just turned 16 and got their license. They had to find jobs to be able to pay for their insurance and for gasoline. They both had completed work on their vehicles before they turned 16 with the help of their father. One has a '73 Malibu and the other has a '69 C-10. I think they started on their vehicles when they were 14.

They were kind of bummed out for a while not finding jobs until they finally found one for the summer with a farmer near here.

haha makings of a future project? i wanted to keep it but it wasnt center with the wheels and the new wheels rubbed so i had to nix it. but i would like another with a service bed for a parts runner and what not. as for a job i feel there pain i have yet to find a job still. been trying to keep the money coming in. alost didnt make my insurance this month so it keeps me stressed trying not to get dicouraged. trying to get the inside of the cab sealed up is my next project though. hopefully i will beable to get started on it tommarow. thanks for the encouragment from everyone. its part of what keeps me going and looking forward to the one day final finished product.

If you are really cheap like me you can go to the salvage yard and get 1987-97 Dodge Dakota slide on weatherstrips (door seals). You will need to take a phillips screwdriver, small hammer and a small pry bar to get them off. You can usually get a nice pair for under 10 bucks... You have to cut about three inches off of them.

well a bit of bad news,
well my motor blew up in my face today. it had a bad oil leak and i didnt have the money to fix it and went without oil for about a month now and got the heads off today to regasket them and found three cracks on one head and two on the other. so now im looking for a new motor, but even if i find one can afford it so will have to figure somthing out.the motor still runs but it still leaks even after we put the heads on and it smoke horribly.

im looking. gonna try and do some work for a guy, going to build him a trailer, hopefully it brings in enough to buy somthing decent. my uncle the one i bought the truck from gave me a cheap set of heads for now. it still smokes and the heads are way to big for the little 305 motor but atleast its running a little better. i didnt find any cracks on the block but wont beable to tell for sure till i take it to a machine shop. if its rebuildable then i'll save it for another project i have. but for sure the heads are toast so wont be keeping those.

hopeevery thing goes ok man i got my 302 from a guy in stockton so if i found hat hen ou should be able to find a 350 or somthin hopefully that gave you a little confidence but i like your build are you keepin it 3/4ton or goin 1/2 ton

well yet another big hit, the dmv has suspended my registration because my insurance company has yet to provide proof of insurance to them.
yes im going to keep 3/4 ton. gonna try and go for a stock sleeper look. plans are to eventually put a duramax in it and give it about a 1 1/2 in. body lift with bigger tires and nicer stock rims. probably going to go with the silverado rims that are real popular.
