Re: how do tell if truck is factory big block

removable tranny hump, heat shield on passenger side of cab, dual exhaust, look at the suffix code on the motor to see if it could be the original engine. Those are kinda the easy ones.

Re: how do tell if truck is factory big block

Look for factory mounted Daul Exhaust hangers, 6 cyl & small block V8s did not come with dual.

Should have the high hump floor.

Should have a Heat Sheld under the hood on the Lower Fire Wall / Upper Floor Board of the pass side, it a sheet of metal about 10 inches long and 3 inches wide, held in with 2 screws.

Also look under the hood on the drivers side inner Fender, the factory put a engine timing decal there, read it, in the upper left hand corner is the engine size.

Re: how do tell if truck is factory big block

Yep, it is probably not originally a big block truck with it having a 454 in it, but could have been at some point. NO 454's were put in our style trucks. Trevor

Tailgate isn't a cheyenne super version, so that might just be a pieced together truck. Did it have the woodgrain dash and glovebox door?
