Looking for a mechanic - SF Bay Area
Greetings - I'm looking for a mechanic / shop to work on my '72. Truck is in pretty good shape and just turned 50,000 original miles. The paint is a little weathered for 38 years, but otherwise the truck is rock solid reliable. My father purchased this truck in '84 with just under 30K miles. I bought it from him in '95.
I'm pretty much a checkbook wrench as I lack tools, skills, space and time. Well, that and I'm pretty darn lazy too. There are a few things that need attention and the larger project I would like done is to have Power Steering added which is the same reason Dad sold it to me as he started to get up in years. I'm moslty interested in preservation. Safety upgrades are welcome. I'm looking for an honest mechanic/shop that can take care of the truck from basic service to minor restoration as needed. Does anyone have any recommendations for a mechanic in the SF Bay Area? Ideally, someone in the Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro area, but will travel for a good wrench. Although I created an account here several years ago, I think this is really my introduction, so here is the required picture. Thanks. |

Re: Looking for a mechanic - SF Bay Area
I've had great success with John Crawford, who has two shops in the east bay: Moraga Auto Care & Service, in Moraga, and All Service Automotive, in Walnut Creek. He'll be putting a new TKO-600 in our '67 Camaro next week.
John is honest, reasonably priced, and--best of all--he's one of us. He used to drive a sweet '68 SWB, and is currently bringing a '54 panel back to life. I give him my highest recommendation. Elijah _ Last edited by Southbound; 05-12-2010 at 03:19 AM. |
