Tie rod adjusting sleeve question
Hope this isn't to dumb of a question, but I'm not a front end expert by any means. I just replaced the tie rods on my 62 1/2 ton, but kept the stock adjusting sleeves (LOOKED FINE) and after adjusting the toe in, tightened up the nuts on the sleeves. The question is, should I still be able to turn the sleeve in or out. I can put my wrench on it, and turn it kind of easily - doesn't seem right, shouldn't the nuts on the sleeve keep it from turning on the rods?

Re: Tie rod adjusting sleeve question
Yes, they should keep it from turning. i think the torque is around 22 ftlbs on those bolts.

Re: Tie rod adjusting sleeve question
depends on what your talking about.... is it turning on the threads, or pivoting on the ball joints. If you tighten the jam nut good an tight.. to spec even... you couuld get a pair of channel locks and grab hold of the sleeve and rotate it a bit. It doesnt rotate the sleeve itself, it rotates everything... take a look at that and see if thats whats happening.... more than likely, thats what happening
