the rebuild has started

I started taking down my 68 short wide this weekend for a major make over, all of the following are already bought and will be installed and more will be done before it is completed. I have a 18 circuit Painless wiring harness, 3 in. drop spindles with powder coated upper and lower a frames with disk brakes, complete Vitange Ac Package with polished compressor, t-56 tranmission and a fuel cell. Plus I hope by the time I am done to have the rear converted to 5 lug disk brakes, have the compressor for air ride system with vavles and fuel cell mounted in the bed of the truck and covered with a tonue cover. I will also have the entire inside of cab insulated for heat and sound proof. New stainless brake lines and gas line, frame sandblasted and painted.
Wish me luck and I have no idea how long until I get to drive it again.

Well I have the bed, front cap, and most of the inside of the cab and all heater related stuff and wiring harness out. Found some rust some I knew about some I did not, all up front on the firewall up on top and down at the bottom. Not sure how or what the best way to repair this but I am sure I am not the first. I will post pics later as I have plenty of work to do before I have to start that. I will look for threads that talk about this and maybe get a idea or two.

After taking my truck apart and finding the cab had alot of problems with rust in the firewall and along the seems seals I decided to take it all the way down. I have no bought a different cab and almsot got the frame completely sandblasted and will por-15 that and start the building it back up. I am sure it will cost me plenty when that starts as I putting on SS brake lines, having the front cross member hot tanked as there is now way to get all the grease and grime out of the middle. Soon to have the new cab blasted also. In just about a month I will start the rebuild part of it but in the mean time here is the frame and the new cab that is going on it, 1969 ac cab not alot of work to do with it cab corners and one front support so far.

Don't you hate it when you think you have an easy project scheduled and all of a sudden it turns into a total rehab? Looks like you are well on your way though. Keep the pics coming!
