Texas has to be 73-87 kingdom!

I'm glad to be back home for a bit, just completed Air Force Basic Training. While on base, taking a peak at all the cool trucks on base (without being noticed by my TI of course!), I was amazed at all the 73-87's.

During graduation weekend, off base with my family in San Antonio, I could not believe the amount of square bodies I counted. I literally counted 5 per minute. Of course they were all rust free! You Texans and southern folk have no idea how lucky you are! I pulled in my driveway to see my swiss cheese 87. It's ok though I'm in the process of working on it.

Anyways, it's good to be back and I will be posting updates on the continued project of my truck. I'm still in amazement at the amount of Squares in San Antonio!

Welcome to the Air Force!

I've been in for almost 17 years now and don't regret a day of it. What career field are you? and where are you going to be stationed?

I'm a newbie to these trucks but if you need any Air Force help, let me know.

AGE (Aerospace Ground Equipment). I'm actually Guard. The reason I'm home is tech school, which will be at Shepherd, is filled until I believe October! It will be a long school, about 5 months, but I like how versatile that job is.

I was at the 331st (Wolfpack) Squadron.

Thanks guys!

Re: Texas has to be 73-87 kingdom!

There ARE a lot of 73-87 trucks here in San Antonio. I bought mine from someone who worked at Lackland 9 years ago. My father-in-law saw it sitting with a "FOR SALE" sign in the window and called me with the phone number.

You should see our junkyards here. These trucks are still plentiful.

Anywhere from a few hundred to thousands. Take a look at San Antonio Craigslist to get an idea...

It sounds like he spent most of his time at Lackland AFB.

Also a bunch in AZ, but yes there are a number of running (as well as semi-permanently) parked squares in TX.
