Different approach to radio concealment
I would like to use a solid plate, much like the one in the picture below but without the center removed, to conceal a radio recessed in the dash. I would use some type of hinge mechanism and just fold it open when using the radio then back up when parking. It would simply look like a filler plate when closed. I have a couple of questions: Has anybody done this before? Who makes the plate below again? I would like to email him. Thanks.

I just may need one, i will keep that in mind and let you know. Thanks. My whole goal is to make it seem like a radio isn't there but still have it in the normal spot.

if you can fabricate... you could make the "plate" motorized & have it flip down to reveal the radio behind it... i decided to leave the plate alone & just mounted my radio under the seat & use the remote to operate radio....... just my 0.02

I hadn't thought of motorizing it but that is a great idea - the gearing would help keep the plate tight against the dash when not in use. Good one, thanks.
