01 HD 8.1 super charger

I just finished a Paxton super charger in my 01 HD withan 8.1. I'm running 5-6 pounds of boost. With an after cooler. I relly like it alot. Has any one else do this mod and have you run more than 5-6 pounds of boost?

It doesn’t look like it. I have two trucks with 8.1’s. The one in the ’78 has had significant ECM tuning and runs circles around the stock 8.1L in the 2001 HD. I could only imagine how well one would run with a blower! I bet you are real happy with that!

I put an ATI Procharger with intercooler on my '00 7.4. Runs 5-6 pounds. It woke it up but still eats fuel.

Not meaning to threadjack but how well does it do? Did it help economy any at all or does it just pull a lot better while still eating the same amount of fuel? I've been contemplating supercharging my 99 dually in the far future when I'm able to upgrade to a larger camper and would like more power for towing.

Re: 01 HD 8.1 super charger

Josh - Running empty mileage did not really change but I saw a 15-20% improvement in towing mileage. Take note that I installed a Banks Power Pak (headers & catbak). Cats are absent as well. I think changing gears from 3.73 to 4.10 would make better use of the power made at cruising RPMs while towing. Also, monitor trans temps. Good luck.
