How Many PSI does the factory oil guage indicate?

I'd like to know if anyone know how many PSI the factory oil pressure guages are calibrated for? In other words, if it's at the far right hand mark, does that mean 60 pds oil pressure or 80 or what?

Thanks!!

Most stock gauges are 60 PSI. If you have the gauge out, along the lower right edge it will say "60 PSI" or "80 PSI".

Mine is 80 lbs, I found out when I had the cluster out. It is labeled right on the back like C20934 said. It probably depends on what motor you have and what pressure it was set up to run, my truck came with a 305 V6.

C/10- C/30 trucks came with 60 lb oil pressure gauges. The C/40-up trucks came with 80 lb gauges. If I am wrong, LHM will correct me on this one.

I wonder why my truck has the 80 psi gauge in it? I know that it is the stock gauge because my grandad owned the truck since 1971, and he never swapped it.

The only 80 psi gauges I've ever round came out of the C40 and larger trucks.

I have to agree with that. I have seen 60# gauges in bigger trucks, but never an 80#in a 10-30 series.

Re: How Many PSI does the factory oil guage indicate?

I believe 80lb were for big blocks. I don't know if they only used them in big trucks or not. I have pulled several dashes out of big trucks and they were 60lbs.

Re: How Many PSI does the factory oil guage indicate?

I have no first hand info on this, but I have been told the majority of big trucks, big block trucks, and v6 trucks got 80 pound, the much more common inline and small block truck got 60 psi.
