How do you guys search Craigslist?

New computer, so I lost some of my settings for national searches. There was a really good one for a state-by-state search.

Also, how are you guys searching for pre-'73 4 x 4 trucks? The K10 and 20 designation seems to work well from '73 on, but there doesn't seem to be any consistent way to find older four bys.

The wife's actually embraced the idea of an older 4 x 4 with her art studio logo on the side, so I'm looking for 60-72 stuff, just hard to figure out a consistent way to search. Gotta strike while the iron's hot!

Re: How do you guys search Craigslist?

When I search craiglist, if I am looking for a 68 truck, I will just type in the search 1968 or just 68

www.searchtempest.com

That lets you search within a certain mileage from your ZIP code

www.crazedlist.org is sweet, just select the cities and states, and category and search. They all come up on one page, makes searching statewide, or nationwide super easy.

You will have to make a small tweak to your browser the first time you use it,but they walk you through it.

Re: How do you guys search Craigslist?

I just go through all the listings about once a day. I find I miss less deals because some people just don't put good descriptions so search misses a lot example I just picked 5 16x8 black steel Rockcrawler wheels 8on6.5 for $45. Title of ad was steel wheels that was it. Guy just wanted them gone.

Re: How do you guys search Craigslist?

Firstly, here's an example of a search I might do:

chevy|chevrolet|gmc++67|68|1967|1968++truck|c10|c20|pickup

This will search for any chey/chevrolet/gmc in the years 68,69,1968,1969 that is listed as a truck,c10,c20, or pickup.

Instead of having to type that all in, once you do the search you'll notice an orange "RSS" button on the lower right corner of the search results page. You can use this to import the search into google reader. Then, once your searches are setup you just visit google reader, which will tell you if there is anything new.

Only drawback is that you have to do this for every city you want to search, so it's best suited for local searches.

Re: How do you guys search Craigslist?

Crazedlist.org is my favorite and I find gives me the best results. I like www.searchtempest.com/ too.

Craiglook.com is nice that it provides pictures in the search results, but I don't think it searches the body of the ad, just the title.
