Re: 67 72 wood floor fleet swb

My '67 bed wood looks like it was painted black... is that how it was from the factory? Anyways, sorry for the question, now show me some wood!

Whoops! That didn't sound right, I mean show me some wood in your bed. Er, this is awkward...

Re: 67 72 wood floor fleet swb

Here's mine... Oak wood with 6 coats of marine finish. We brushed on the first five (sanding in between) and sprayed the last coat to get a smooth finish.

I just can't seem to keep mine looking that nice since I haul things in mine. Coolers. chairs, canopy, over night bags, etc.

Re: 67 72 wood floor fleet swb

If you slide something onto your bed it will have an effect on the strips. Mine are stainless and pretty tuff. My strips are a shade higher than the wood itself.

I'm getting ready to refinish my wooden bed. What is the best product to use for protecting the wood?

Re: 67 72 wood floor fleet swb

There are many thread discussing best finish.
see
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=391890
and
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=383476.
Also see wood finish testing at http://www.mar-k.com/installation_hints.html to see which finish to NOT USE.

how tough to swap from the metal floor, is it spot welded in? do both wood and metal floors have the same crossmembers?

I think it takes a different front panel, and a different rear sill. I might be wrong, but that is what I heard. The floor just botls in BTW.
