frame paint opinions

I have a 72K20 with moderate to heavy rust on the frame. All of the heavy rust is behind the cab.. Im going to pull the bed to repair the wood so I would like to take care of this problem while I can. The truck is parked inside unless Im driving it or plowing snow in my driveway. This is not a show piece, I use it as a truck. I have used POR in the past for truck bodies but I am seeing what other products others have used.

Re: frame paint opinions

I used POR 15 on my frame also but really if you remove surface rust and get down to some clean metal a coat of primer and paint should help protect the metal for years to come. Then you could even roll on some cheap diy bedliner stuff to help protect the paint.

Re: frame paint opinions

I used the Eastwood chassis kit that includes a rust converter and a rust encapsulator that forms a durable primer for the top coat. I was very pleased with the results and was easy to work with.

Good luck with your project and keep us posted on the progress.

I. was cheap and I wanted to be able to touch it up easily. Used Rustoleum "Hammered". Good stuff for a frame, dollar for dollar
