Our trucks on late model chassis swaps

I did a search and didn't come up with much of anything. I know this kind of swap isn't a simple bolt on, but I think it would be interesting to see what you guys have come up with.

I stumbled across a build thread on an earlier burb being put on a late model GMC chassis and from there an International being put on a late model chassis. Both a heck of a lot of work, but very cool.

If you have a thread on your swap or findings maybe you could just put a link here that we could check out. Im sure guys are always wondering about this and it would be nice to have a place to get some real info instead of the people that just say...dont do it, its too much work, or, why would you want to do that? Dang naysayers...LOL!

Personally I dont have the skill level to pull this kind of thing off, but I love reading about it and checking out pics of other peoples talents.

International (sorry its a 2x4 but still cool) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=391741

In the 47-59 build section BBEEP is putting a 52 ambulance on a 4wd Envoy using the complete interior too. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=348244

So basically your going after the ifs of the newer truck? almost any of the other parts can be swapped onto the older frames with the solid axle.

Im not, this kind of thing is above my skill level. Ive just seen a thread here or there on it. Seen a lot of questions about it with mostly negative replies. I figured a thread that shows how some people have done it with their thoughts, was it worth the trouble? etc etc would be a pretty good thread to have on the board.

But it looks like not much has happened in this area, so maybe the interest was only in my head...

Yep that kind of thing, or even a later model chassis...and your truck is awesome.

You should make a build thread, I know most of us here would love to see how your truck came to be.

I was thinking this could be a link thread eventually. Time will tell =)

Re: Our trucks on late model chassis swaps

The funny thing is my truck came to be, back in 1986. It has been apart a few times since then but has gotten better everytime. I put the Blazer tank under it in the early 90's.

Re: Our trucks on late model chassis swaps

Thank you. Just wish I could get it out and drive it more than I do now.
