Can't get my fan shroud on...

I left my fan shroud off when I had my water pump off and figured that I would put it on later... now I can't see how it would be possible to install with the radiator in! Is it possible? I have a flex fan and it's about 2" from the radiator, while the shroud is about 6" deep.

Yup, like John said. Pull the fan/fan clutch assembly from the water pump pulley (assuming you've loosened the alternator belt) Put the fan shroud onto the radiator loosely, then mount the fan/fan clutch assembly back onto the water pump pulley. Its a little tight getting the bolts back on but doable. Then readjust and tighten alternator belt and tighten screws on fan shroud.

I may be wrong, but I think your fan may to too close to the radiator. It's supposed to be hanging out the back (eng side) of the shroud to be it's most efficient.

Re: Can't get my fan shroud on...

You could be right, its a flex fan so apparently not stock. There is a spacer between the fan and the water pump; I wonder if I can get a new spacer and bolts? In any case, does it really matter? I did notice that my temps are around the cold side of the stock temp gauge but that's with the shroud off... It might make matters worse when I shroud it. Thanks for the tips guys, it was unclear how I would bolt the fan back on afterinstalling the shroud but it's pretty clear now.

Re: Can't get my fan shroud on...

Fan blades should be half way in and half way out of the shroud for best efficiency and as close to the edge of the shroud as possible without rubbing. However, if the engine kept cool as is, then it clearly is not critical in your case.
