I left a message for AesC10s , But just realized the date of his posting. Do any of you know about building a tilt hood for these trucks or anything about a kit. Thanx, Killerpickup

I think he just wants to tilt the hood, not the whole front end. A lot of people use Buick hood hinges and modify them to fit.

Yea, the parts that I have seen that work well are from older buicks and are cheap from a junkyard. I wanted to do that to mine over the winter but the weather this winter limited me to suicide and shaved doors. I hope its ok to post names but this member helped me out with info and pics about the process when he did it to one of his trucks,Restrorob, maybe he will chime in here or you could send him a message about the info. He has some really good pics of it and helpfull info.

Re: Tilt hood for 73-87 chevs

I used the hinge from a 1988 LeSabre for my S-10. For my S-10 the hinge had to be narrowed but all in all it was a very simple install. Getting the hood/latch adjusted properly wasn't quite as simple. LOL.

The hinges are easy to find and cheap.

Re: Tilt hood for 73-87 chevs

88/89 LaSabre/Park Avenue hinges are the same, On full sized trucks they have to be widened.

I had this assembly in my 74 before I stripped it for restoring, Had a gust of wind take my glass hood off the prop rod and put the cowl scoop through the windshield.

That will NEVER happen again....

Working a deal on a 50 Styleline Coupe that may get the same treatment before it's over with.
